There is much more work that goes into a newborn photoshoot than just the 3-4 hours when you are in my studio and I have worked out my cost of doing business to reflect that.

Beforehand

• I style the session having discussed colour schemes with parents.

• I keep in constant contact with parents and speak on the phone to go through the best way to prepare on the morning of the session.

The session itself

• The session involves 3-4 hours of intense work where you are paying for my skill, creativity and expertise. As well as my experience and training to make sure baby is perfectly safe at all times.

After the session

• I edit your full gallery, often more than 200 raw images.

• I edit them to a consistent colour plalate to make sure your pictures will print to a professional standard.

• I remove any blemishes on baby – often newborns have blotchy skin, jaundice or even baby acne.

• I then present you with your finished gallery at a photo reveal session back in my studio, where you choose which package you would like to go for.

Now you may be wondering why Im saying all this given that everyone has a camera phone and everyone takes a million photos of their new baby.

But heres the thing. New babies often dont have hair or eyebrows, and dont open their eyes very often, which means they dont have anything to give definition to their faces.

This doesnt matter in real life when we are looking at our beautiful little miracles in 3D, because we can see the natural curve of their faces and the soft shadows on their skin.

The problem with photos is that they are 2D. So if you take a phone photograph of your new baby , they are likely to look a bit flat in the image, and not at all as perfect as they look when you see them through your own eyes.

When I had my own son, I remember looking at him with my eyes full of love, and thinking my gosh he looks so beautiful! Id better take a photo!. Then, to my dismay, the photo I took looked nothing like my gorgeous boy at all.
