Finding The Correct Tightness
You want your baby to sit snug against your body, similar to the way they are if you are holding them to your chest with your arms. You also want to be comfortable. If your back hurts, your wrap might be too tight or sitting too low, or the fabric may be twisted.
Check the tightness any time you take your baby out or change their position in the wrap. This ensures that you and your baby remain safe and comfortable.
What You Should Know About Sizing

Unlike stretchy wraps, woven wraps are not a one-size-fits-all design. Instead, woven wraps come in several sizes. You can buy various sizes based on your body size or based on what types of carries you prefer to use. Some carries require more passes over and around the body with the wrap, meaning youll need a longer wrap for these carries, while others require fewer.

Can I Tandem Carry In A Woven Wrap
Yes, you can tandem carry in a woven wrap. You can carry children of two different sizes and ages at the same time in a woven wrap as well. You can carry two babies in a single wrap if they are small enough, and you can also tandem carry with two separate wraps.
Before tandem carrying your babies, you will first want to master wearing one baby at a time. You will also want to make sure your babies are wrapped snugly so they cannot turn, sink, or slouch while being worn.
Its essential when tandem carrying that you make sure no single spot of your wrap has unnecessary weight continuously put on it.
What’s The Right Temperature For Baby
Whatever the weather is like outside, your babys temperature should always be between 98 and 100 degrees F a rectal reading is always the most accurate. When its out of the normal range, that may be a sign of illness.
Whats more, whether its summer or winter, babys nursery should stay between 68 and 72 degrees F. If your baby is preterm, keep the thermostat a bit higher at 72 degrees F.
If its too hot, it can increase a babys risk of SIDS. If its too cold, it can cause a risk of hypothermia, when your little ones temperature drops to a dangerously low level. When your baby is sick and has a fever, dress him in lighter, acrylic fabrics.

Choose A Simple Colour Scheme
Having a coordinated colour palette to base everyones outfits on can really help to bring your photographs together, and give them more impact.
Before your session Ill talk to you about the colour of blankets you would like me to use whilst I photograph your new baby. This will usually be either a lighter colour like white or cream, or a darker colour like grey or taupe.
The colour you choose for your babys blankets will have an influence on the colours that will work best for your family photographs.
If you would prefer that your baby is photographed on a light coloured blanket I recommend choosing light colours such as white, cream, soft greys for the family photographs. Denim can also work well for trousers when combined with a light coloured top.
The idea behind this is that we want the focus of the photographs to be on the people in them, not the clothes. Having everyone dressed in soft colours will help to do this, and bring a cohesive feel to the photographs. If you have some family members dressed in dark colours and your baby wrapped up in a light colour, the light colour blanket will really stand out and there will be less of a cohesive feel.
Similarly, if youve chosen a darker colour for the wraps and blankets, it usually works best if the family are in darker colours that complement the blanket colour too.
One thing I recommend that you avoid is very bright colours these will take the focus away from you and your baby.

The Pros Of Stretchy Wraps
Stretchy wraps are a popular choice for moms who are new to babywearing for the following reasons:
- They are less intimidating: Stretchy wraps can be tied to your body before placing your baby into the carrier. This makes it easier for parents to get the hang of tying the wrap without fear of dropping their baby.
- You can hold your baby in more than one position: Stretchy wraps can hold babies in front and side carry positions.
- They are a one-size-fits-all solution: Most stretchy carriers come in one size. This means you dont have to worry about measuring to find the carrier to fit your size, and more than one person can share the carrier without having to adjust buckles or straps.
Three: Make An X In The Front
Gather both panels into your hand in a ball, then pull them through the panel with the label. Pull them out the bottom, making sure not to lose any of the snug-ness youve created. Then, cross them into an X. Youve now created an X on your back, and an X on your front. Bring the two ends behind you.
Fit Tip: At this point, you want all the fabric to be as flat against you as possible, and snug, but not uncomfortably so. You can take this moment to pull the shoulder panels evenly across your shoulders and upper arm to make sure your babys weight will be evenly distributed for a near weightless carry.

How To Dress Baby For The Car Seat
Fitting newborns into car seats isnt too hard when the weather is mild. Usually all they need to wear is a onesie with a light blanket placed over them once theyve been buckled in. A pair of pants or shorts for hot days can help provide an extra layer of protection against pinching from the buckle.
But what about during winter, when baby is outfitted in his lovely new puffy Patagonia snowsuit? There are strong recommendations about not using any puffy attire in the car seat, Price says. Thats because the extra air between baby and the coat could be dangerous during a car accident. Its important to take it off and put a blanket on top of the straps, she says.
How To Dress Baby For Sleeping

When a baby is sleeping, less is going to be more, Smith says. Because babies can wriggle out of their mittens and hats in bed, these could pose a risk for sudden infant death syndrome . All she needs to wear is a onesie underneath her swaddling blanket, if she likes to be swaddled. You can also find long-sleeve onesies with built-in mittens, if she tends to scratch herself. If baby doesnt like to be swaddled, try a sleep sack.

How To Feed A Newborn
For the first two to four days of life, newborns who are breastfeeding will need to be fed every two to three hours, or on demand.
It might not seem like your baby is eating much as your milk supply comes in, but the colostrum you produce immediately following delivery is all they need at this stage.
Transitional milk will replace your milk for the next two weeks, then your mature milk supply will come in.
After the first few days, formula-fed newborns need 2 to 3 ounces of formula per feeding. Theyll need to be fed every three or four hours for the first few weeks.
During the first two weeks of life, if your newborn sleeps longer than four or five hours at a time, you may need to wake them up to eat.
At about 1 month old, both formula- and breastfed babies will need up to 4 ounces per feeding. At this point, formula-fed babies will be on a more predictable schedule, eating about every four hours. Some breastfed babies will eat every four hours, too, but some will still feed more often than this.

Is Newborn Babywearing Safe
While Martha Stewart wouldnt have awarded me Housekeeper of the Year during those first few months, I still had to do the bare minimum around my house.
But our little one enjoyed being heldALL DAY LONG.
Thankfully, Id registered for a baby wrap and received it at my shower. In my mind, though, babywearing was something I would do when our daughter was a little bigger.
She seemed so small when she was first born I was terrified that if I tried babywearing my newborn shed just fall out!
I became overwhelmed with questions regarding whether using a baby wrap with a newborn was safe or not. I did a lot of research and found that the short answer to this question is yes.
Like most parenting decisions, newborn babywearing is a cost/benefit analysis. Please talk to your pediatrician or medical provider about babywearing your newborn safely and make sure you follow safe babywearing practices.
When done correctly, its perfectly acceptable to wear your newborn in a baby wrap or sling, as long as youre following babywearing safety tips.
Weve got several helpful hints for you:
Dont Back Carry With Stretchy Wraps
Stretchy carriers do not provide the support required to use a back carry. This is because the wrap stretches as your baby leans back, making it possible for your baby to fall out of the wrap.
However, woven wraps are safe to use for a back carry as the fabric does not stretch. If you use a back carry with a woven wrap and your baby leans back, your baby will not fall out of the wrap as long as you have secured it tightly.
