Skin Care For Your Newborn
A baby’s soft and delicate skin needs special care. Generally, it is best to use products made especially for babies, but your baby’s healthcare provider can advise you about other products. Products for adults may be too harsh for a baby and may contain irritants or allergens. Many parents like to use lotions. But unless the baby’s skin is dry, lotions really are not needed. Powders should be avoided, unless they are recommended by your baby’s healthcare provider. When using any powder, put the powder in your hand and then apply it to the baby’s skin. Shaking powder into the air releases dust and talc that can harm your baby’s lungs.
Many babies have rashes and bumps that are normal. Some rashes may be a sign of a problem or infection. Diaper rash can be irritating to the baby and needs to be treated. If you have concerns about a rash, or your baby is uncomfortable or has a fever, call your baby’s healthcare provider.
Laundry detergents may cause irritation to a baby’s delicate skin. If your baby seems sensitive to detergent, you can use a special detergent for babies with sensitive skin and give the laundry an extra rinse with plain water to remove any leftover detergent.

Taking Care Of Baby: Baby Baths
Until your baby’s umbilical cord falls off, which usually happens after the first week, don’t give any baths. Instead, give your baby a sponge wash, or top and tail. Circumcised boys should not be bathed until the penis has totally healed. Here’s how:
Don’t use any lotions on your baby, and especially avoid adult products.
Once the umbilical cord stump has fallen off, you can graduate to baths. Your baby doesn’t need a bath every day — two to three times a week should be fine.
Whether you bathe baby in a baby bath, the sink, or the bathtub is up to you. But considering that babies are slippery when wet, some parents feel better able to handle giving a bath in the smaller space of a baby bath or the sink.

From Bountiful To Bald And Back Again
Besides gender, one of the first things a parent is likely to share with excited family and friends is a newborns weight, length and details about that soft baby hair .
If babys head is blessed with hair, hell probably start to shed it during the first six months, at which point he will begin to grow real hair that will likely stick around. So while it may be a surprise that baby arrived with one hair color, his locks may look and feel different by the time his first birthday rolls around.
Another reason for babys hair loss? Since an infant who cannot sit up or roll over will spend a lot of time on his back, the constant rubbing of his head on the crib mattress, bouncer or rocker and car seat can lead to a bald spot, especially in the back of the head. If you notice baby favors one side when hes lying down, try to change his position so his head doesnt go bald and flatten there, too. Bare spots will likely disappear when hes a bit older and starts to spend more time upright.

Proper Bathing And Skin Care For Your Newborn
A newborn’s skin is soft and delicate. Proper skin care and bathing can help maintain the health and texture of the baby’s skin while providing a pleasant experience for both of you.
Contrary to popular thought, most babies don’t need a bath every single day. With all the diaper changes and wiping of the mouth and nose after feedings, most babies may only need to be bathed 2 or 3 times a week or every other day.
Baths can be given any time of day. Bathing before a feeding often works well. Many parents prefer to bathe their baby in the evening, as part of the bedtime ritual. This works well especially if bath time is relaxing and soothing for the baby.
Sponge baths are needed at first. To prevent infection, bathing in a tub of water should not be done until the baby’s umbilical cord falls off, and a baby boy’s circumcision heals.
My Newborn Has Hair All Over Their Body Is This Normal
As mentioned, most babies will lose their lanugo before birth. Premature babies and even some full-termers will still have a downy coating present on day 1, though.
You might find this shocking at first sight, but, dont panic: A full-body shave isnt necessary and, no, it doesnt mean your little one will be a permanent teddy bear.
The lanugo will gradually fade and shed in those first few weeks and months, and more subtle vellus hair will grow in its place.

Drying Of Biracial Baby Hair And How To Apply Hair Products

Remember us mentioning the Mixed Chicks leave product? Well, here is where we use it after rinsing off the conditioner.
This product is generally used at four months old. The mode of application is such that you should apply when hair is still wet to avoid it getting frizzy l, sticky, and an irregular pattern of curls.
Mixed Chicks leave product leaves the hair moist without weighing it down. It also maintains the regular pattern of curls all over the head until tampered with when sleeping.
However, the effectiveness of this leave-in product fades away after some time. As the baby ages, the firmness of the product becomes smaller and smaller. This is because the curly pattern begins to take its natural shape.
Avoid towel drying at all costs. Letting the hair air dry will allow the lovely curls to settle in naturally and avoid being frizzy.
Let it hair dry even if the hair is long. It is a baby, it is not trying to catch a bus downtown to school or work!

Biracial Hair Care For Babies
Washing biracial hair
Because my kids had fine hair, it didnt need to be washed a lot. So I aimed for a couple times a week.
When they were babies, I used Mixed Chicks shampoo. This worked well when they were little because again, their hair was fine and there didnt seem to be any moisture loss and I only used it once or twice a week.
However, as their hair texture changed I stopped using shampoo because there was a noticeable difference in how dry and tangled their hair was after using it.
Once my daughter was an older toddler I began this hair care routine for mixed curly hair.
Conditioning biracial hair
When conditioning their hair, I used this conditioner and used a wide tooth comb to comb out my kids hair. You can also finger comb the conditioner through the hair if their hair is fine.
You know those generic baby brushes that come in every baby kit you get? Dont use that to brush out your babys hair! In fact I dont suggest using any brushes because they can ruin the curl pattern, cause frizz, and breakage.
When rinsing the conditioner out, I made sure to rinse it all out. At this stage, they didnt need extra conditioner kept in their hair because it would just leave their hair tacky or weighed down.
Applying product and drying biracial hair
After rinsing the conditioner out I would put some of the Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner in their hair.
I started using the leave in conditioner when my kids were around 4 months old, .
