If this isnt your first baby, or if youre baby is a bit older and youre aware of their toileting habits, you can nail down the exact quantity of cloth diapers you need by using the chart below.

To get the number of cloth diapers youll need, youll first need the number of diapers your baby will go through in one day. If you already know roughly how many times your baby wets and soils their diapers, just use that number. If you have no idea, here are some rough estimates to use:

• Newborn : 12-14 diapers a day
• Infant : 10-12 diapers a day
• Baby : 8-10 diapers a day
• Toddler : 6-8 diapers a day

Next, youll multiply that number by the number of days you plan to have between washing your diapers. For example, if you plan on washing your diapers every other day, youd multiply by two. If you plan to wash every three days or so, multiply by three, and so on.

Finally, if you have multiple children, you then add the numbers for each of your babies together.

How Many Diapers Does A Baby Use In 2 Years

As explained, your baby will go through between 2,000 and 3,000 diapers during their first year. This number does drop as they go into their second year, but you will still need a substantial supply!

For the second year, you can expect your baby to go through 1,500 to 1,800 diapers. This drop is due to a few factors. They are possibly sleeping through the night now, so you will not have to change them when you wake up for a feed. After the first year, you will only need to change them around 5 times a day.

I know from experience you dont want to be washing cloth diapers every day trust me. Washing your diapers every 2-3 days is whats generally recommended, to avoid issues like ammonia, mold, and mildew . Some people choose to wash their diapers once a week.

When you decide how often you plan to wash diapers, multiply your daily diaper amount by the number of days between washes to get a rough idea of how many diapers youll need. Then add one extra days worth of diapers, so youll have diapers for the day youre doing your washing.
