Process To Apply For A Birth Certificate
Step 1: Get a birth Certificate Registration Form from the registrar’s office .
Step 2: When a child is born in a hospital, the form is provided by the Medical Officer In-charge.
Step 3: Fill in the form within 21 days of birth of the child.
Step 4: If birth is not registered within 21 days of its occurrence, the birth certificate is issued after police verification.
Step 5: Once the verification of the birth records is done by the registrar, the birth certificate is issued to the applicant.
Step 6: 7 days after applying for a birth certificate, follow up with municipal authority to obtain the birth certificate.
Step 7: By providing a self-addressed envelope at the municipality office, the birth certificate is posted to the respective address within 7-14 working days.
Documents Required For Us Passport For Your Newborn Baby:
- 2 Passport Photos that are : 2 x 2 inches in size, identical, taken within the past 6 months, showing full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background. Do not wear a hat or a headgear.

Why Do You Need A Copy Of A Child Birth Certificate
You will need a copy of your childs birth certificate for various reasons which are listed below:
- Applying for a new passport will require extra copies of the childs birth certificate.
- The notarized copies serve as proof of identity and verify the childs age wherever he goes.
- Schools and educational institutions will ask for extra copies when taking new admissions.
- If your child is planning to apply for a drivers license in the future, the extra copies come in handy.

What Information Is Needed To Apply For A Birth Certificate
- Full name of the person whose birth certificate is being requested
- Full date of birth
- County of birth
- Mother/parent’s full name before she married
- Father/parent’s full name
- Signature of the person requesting the birth certificate and their current mailing address
- The relationship between the person named on the birth certificate and the person requesting the certified copy
- The full name and complete mailing address of the person to whom the certificate is to be mailed
- Area code and daytime telephone number of the person requesting the certificate.
When Will You Get Free Birth Proof
If you apply for a birth certificate within 21 days of your child being born, you can get any one of the authorities mentioned above to sign your birth certificate application. If you are past the deadline of 21 days, you will have to pay a certain late fee, which varies according to place and time.

What If I Havent Received My Childs Social Security Card
Figure out your states approximate processing time for SSN applications for newborns, since it varies based on where you live. If you still havent received your babys card in the mail after the indicated length of time , you have two options:
- Visit your local SSA Office.
Depending on your application status, someone at your local SSA office or an official on the hotline could ask you to refile your application you can do so at ssa.gov. Keep in mind that you cant apply via phone or mail, so if youre asked to do this, report this immediately and consider it fraud.
Also, applying for a SSN and a Social Security card is free, so dont be tricked by scammers who may be trying to charge you a fee for your application.
How Much Does A Certified Copy Of A Birth Certificate Cost

When applying for a replacement social security card for my child, there are specific documents you will need to provide. These documents must have your childs name, date of birth, and other identifying information. You must submit the original document or certified copy of it. Do not use photocopies or notarized copies, as the Social Security Administration cannot accept them. If the birth has been registered, the child’s surname cannot be changedunless:
- The birth is being re-registered at a later date to include the father’s name, or
- Both parents were not married to one another at the time of registration but marry one another at a later date and apply to re-register the birth under Section 24 of the Civil Registration Act 2004
