A Few Practical Tips For Dressing Your Newborn For Travel Home:
- While your focus might be on the car ride home, remember to dress baby in something that will make life easier once you get home. Fancy is cute until you have to undress and redress a fussy or sleepy newborn.
- Frequent diaper changes mean you will have to undo snaps or deal with complicated articles of clothing continually. So make it easy on yourself and go with something simple!
- Bring two outfits in case you end up with a bigger baby. I had a 10 pounder, and she did not fit into many newborn outfits!
- Onesie might work fine. But as a new mom, you will absolutely notice and cringe at the car seat straps touching their sensitive little skin, so a light pair of pants or leggings might be a helpful addition.
- When looking for material, go for something soft and not scratchy, like cotton or bamboo.
- Pro Mom Tip: Go for footed pants instead of pants and socks. They are so much easier to use, stay on, and keep track of!
My personal preference is an adorable long-sleeved footed onesie . This provides just enough coverage on the skin to protect against sun, wind, or chill while being light enough to help them remain comfortable . As a first time mom or dad, its easy to buy lots of adorable baby clothing only to find out its unusable or impractical.
I certainly did. My first purchase was this cute baby fleece onesie for 6-12 month olds.
My daughter was born in the winter time so I thought I was planning ahead. By the time that winter rolled around and an occasion came up where she could wear it, it was too small for her. She didnt end up wearing it once!

So exactly how much of each baby size should I get?

Should I buy newborn clothes or 0-3 months? What can I anticipate to be my babys first size?
One way you can gauge this is thinking about yours and your partners baby weight when you were born. That might give you an idea of if youll have a small, average or large baby.

It varies from baby to baby, but it would be around 1-4 per day. I think around 2-3 is the average.
The younger the baby, the higher the number per day.

Bear in mind that the sizes above are a guide only. Some babies when born will fit straight into 000s, some will need 0000s. For example, Bonds sizes tend to be on the smaller side, so you may find that you are buying Bonds clothing one size up compared to what you would buy in other brands.
