Note:We can only issue one of each type of birth certificate for a person. For security reasons, this means that if you or anyone who is authorized orders a replacement certificate, the previously issued certificate is no longer valid.

How To Get A Copy Of A Marriage License
County governments issue marriage licenses. It may be a clerk of court, probate court, or a marriage license department that issues them. Contact the county government where you’ll be married to apply for a license.
Most marriage licenses expire within 30 days to a year, depending on the issuing state.
If yours expires or gets lost before you get married, apply for a new one.

Note: Documents cannot be picked up without acceptable ID. Documents will ONLY be released to the person who applied for them. If someone is picking up your document on your behalf, you must provide them with a written letter of authorization and they must provide their own acceptable ID. If you have used a Designated Agent, they will also require a letter of authorization to pick up your document. There are no exceptions.

How To Get A Newborns Birth Certificate
Now that we have established how important a birth certificate for a baby is, were going to address how to get one for your newborn. Regardless of whether your child is scheduled to be born on a specific date or you are surprised with an unexpected delivery, you should carry your personal identification in order to register your childs birth.
Usually, if you give birth at a hospital, they will provide you with the necessary forms before you are discharge to go home. Most often, a nurse or midwife will offer her assistance in completing the babys birth certificate form. If you have programed the birth at home or in a birthing center, a midwife generally has the required forms on hand. If you give birth outside a hospital is important to proceed correctly to create a certificate of live birth, and a correct register for a birth certificate.
You must complete the certificate of live birth and the birth certificate application. Note that most hospitals are required to register a birth within five to ten days after a baby is born. Following this registration, it can take up to 30 days on average for the birth to be fully registered with the local department of vital records.
When completing the form for the babys birth certificate both parents should provide information including their social security numbers, full name, maiden name, and a mailing address. Parents should have proof of identification, a drivers license or a passport are both valid.

These are two separate products, used for different purposes, with different information. Always check with the government agency or person requesting the document to confirm what information they need before ordering a birth certificate.

How Do I Get A Birth Certificate
You must complete the following steps to request and receive a birth certificate:
- Submit an application with required pieces of information.
- Pay applicable fee. Fees start at $25 per certificate. Other fees may apply depending on ordering or shipping method. Birth certificates are available for no fee under specific circumstances.
Birth Certificate With Parental Information
A birth certificate with parental information is an extract of information from the original birth registration and includes:
- all of the information included in the birth certificate
- the name and place of birth of the subjects parent
This certificate is recommended for newborns and children under 16 years of age where parental information is required. It can be used for the same identification purposes as a birth certificate with only subject information, but also for:
- a childs passport in Canada
- child health insurance

How To Register A Birth
You must register your childs birth within 3 months ofthe birth. You must attend a HSE Civil Registration Servicein person. You can register your childs birth in any CivilRegistration Service, regardless of where the birth took place. Staff ofthe hospital where your child was born, or the staff at your local healthcentre, can tell you where to register the birth.
After you register the birth, you can get your babys birth certificateand they will be assigned a PPSnumber you will need these to apply for a passport, enrol in school,and for many other purposes.
There is no fee for registration of a birth. There is a 20fee for a full standard certificate.

If You Have A Home Birth
Complete and return the home birth worksheet within one year of the baby’s birth. If you do not return this form within a year of the child’s birth, the parent will need to provide additional evidence about the birth and pay an additional filing fee. More importantly, the birth certificate will be marked delayed. Government authorities question the validity of delayed birth certificates, and this could impact the child for his or her whole life.

Access Adoption Records Through Consent
In some states, you may be able to access identifying information through a mutual consent registry. Using these registries, all involved in an adoption can declare what information may be disclosed. Some states may require the consent of both the birth parents and adoptive parents for the release of records. However, the release of information varies by state.
If your state does not maintain a mutual consent registry, there are other ways to obtain records through consent. Public or private agencies can locate birth parents in some states. When an agency contacts birth parents, they can find out identifying information through:
- Confidential Intermediary System The court gives permission to a court-certified confidential intermediary. This permission grants them access to sealed adoption records. They can also contact the birth parents to obtain consent for the release of identifying information.
- Affidavit System – Birth parents can officially file their consent or refusal to be identified or contacted.

Apostille And Exemplified Copies
Apostille and Exemplified copies of vital records are routinely required for foreign use. The Apostille and Exemplified copies consist of an Alabama birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificate signed by the State Registrar and an additional certification signed by the Alabama Secretary of State. Our office has birth records from July 1, 1907 to present for events that occurred in the state of Washington. You can obtain Washington state birth records as certified copies for legal purposes or noncertified informational copies for genealogical or other personal use. The three different birth record products include: birth certificate, Heirloom birth certificate, and noncertified informational copy of a birth record.

If you were born to American parents abroad, they should have registered your birth with the country’s U.S. embassy or consulate. If they did, they would have received a Consular Report of Birth Abroad . You can get a copy of this report from the U.S. Department of State. Depending on the country, a vital records office in the nation may also list the birth.
What if the State Department cannot locate your CRBA? If you were born on a military base abroad, your parents might not have registered your birth with the U.S. embassy. In that case, you may have to contact the hospital where you were born.

Who Is Entitled To Apply For A Birth Certificate
- You, if you are the subject of the birth certificate. You must be at least 16 years of age.
- A parent of a child until the child reaches the age of 19 years or if the child is incapable because of physical or mental incapacity.
- A custodial guardian proof of guardianship is required.
- A person with written authorization from one of the above:
- has known the person making the designation for at least one year and has signed a statement to that effect in the form set by the Minister,
- is a lawyer acting on behalf of the person making the designation, or
- satisfies the registrar general that they are acting on behalf of or employed by a government, charitable or non-profit organization providing social support or social services to the person making the designation and has signed a statement to that effect in the form set by the Minister.
